What deals can I cancel?
You can edit a deal yourself if all these 3 conditions are met:
- you have a freelancer profile,
- the deal was created through Invoice a client,
- we haven’t sent the final invoice to your client yet.
Deals you can cancel have the "Cancel deal" button. If you don’t see it or can’t click it, you can’t cancel this deal.
How to cancel a deal?
- Log in to Useme.
- Go to Deals.
- Open the deal you want to cancel.
- Click "Cancel deal" in the top right corner.
- Select the reason.
- Click "Cancel deal".
What happens after cancelling a deal
After you cancel a deal, it doesn’t disappear from your dashboard. You’ll find it in Closed deals.
A canceled deal isn't visible on your public freelancer profile.
We’ll email your client right away and tell them not to pay the deposit request because the deal was cancelled. You can also inform them earlier so they don’t make the payment.
How to edit a deal
You can’t edit a deal, but you can cancel it and then copy its details to a new invoice. Here’s how:
- Cancel the deal using the steps above.
- After cancelling, you’ll see a window with the "Copy invoice" button. Click it.
- You’ll go to the Invoice a client form. This will be a new invoice, but it will already have the details from the cancelled deal. You can change them freely.
You can also copy a cancelled deal later, not only right after cancelling it. You’ll find it in Closed deals.
Example: You created an invoice with the wrong amount. What should you do?
- Cancel the deal with the incorrect amount.
- Click "Copy invoice".
- Keep the client details and work description. Click "Next" until you reach the Set the price step.
- Enter the correct price and complete the form.
Your client will get a new payment link.
Why can’t I cancel a deal?
You can’t cancel a deal yourself if:
- The deal wasn’t created through Invoice a client (for example through Useme Jobs).
- Your client has already paid – even if the money is still on the way to you. You always get an email when the client pays.
- Your client received a final invoice with a deferred payment date.
In these cases, contact us. We’ll confirm the situation with your client, issue a corrective invoice, return the payment if needed, and close the deal.
If you’re a client and want to cancel a deal, contact us. We’ll issue a corrective invoice.
