How do we verify freelancer accounts?

To enjoy all Useme features, your account must be verified. Here's everything you need to know about how account verification works, why it’s important, and how to handle potential challenges.

What is account verification?

Once you create an account and fill out your profile, we must verify it. We will review your details and check if they’re accurate and complete. Once we finish, you’ll see that in a notification bell on your profile.

Without our verification, you can’t get paid through Useme, but you can already start invoicing your client. You can also add offers to 5 jobs posted on Useme Jobs (on condition that you’ve filled out your profile sections: About me and Portfolio / CV. Learn more about completing your profile and adding offers to jobs.)

We verify accounts during Customer Service working hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (UTC+2).

Why do we need your data?

When you settle a deal with a client through Useme, we act as an intermediary platform. As such, we bear responsibility for the transaction, handle all formalities, and send you your payment.

To do that, we need your personal or company details to enter into an online contract with you. We use and process your data only for contract purposes. We never use it for unrelated activities or share it with third-party organizations.

We comply with the GDPR standards. For more details, read our Privacy policy.

How long does the verification process take?

If you haven’t created an account yet, do it here. Once you enter your email address and password, we’ll send you an activation link. Click it to verify your email address. Then, your account is added to the verification queue. Typically, the process is completed within 24 hours on business days.

To speed up your account verification, ensure that all the information you enter in your Useme profile is true. Once verified, you’ll see that in a notification bell on your profile.

Why we haven’t verified your account yet?

If you’ve been waiting longer than 24 hours, check your inbox – we might have asked you for additional information and are waiting for your response. If you don’t get any related emails, write to us using the contact form to clarify the situation.

When can you lose your verified status?

Every time you change your personal details (name, address), your account needs to be verified again to ensure the new data is accurate.

You can also lose your verified status when another user files a complaint against you. If you haven’t changed your profile details, but your account has lost its verified freelancer status, write to us using the contact form.

Additional identity verification

We ask all freelancers outside Poland to do additional identity verification for safety reasons (the KYC procedure). After creating an account, you’ll get redirected to a secure third-party application, Shufti Pro. This verification takes around 10 minutes and requires you to show a valid photo ID and your face via webcam or smartphone. Check how identity verification work.
