When and how to upload work files to a deal

Every deal, whether through the Invoice a client or jobs from Useme Jobs, requires freelancers to upload work files or files confirming they completed the work. Read on to learn more about work files.

Uploading work files

The Invoice a client form

If you already completed work for a client, go to Invoice a client. It’s a form that starts with a file uploader. Add a file or files that confirm your completed work.

Your file can contain the entire work or:

  • a screenshot confirming work completion,
  • a part or several parts of the work,
  • an hourly form (timesheet),
  • a report confirming work.

Check examples of accepted work files.

The client won’t get your work files until they pay. Once they do, they can download them but only if they have a Useme account.

Settling a deal from Useme Jobs

After completing the job found on Useme Jobs:

  1. Log in to Useme.
  2. From the left menu, go to Deals Open deals.
  3. Select the relevant deal and click “Upload your work.”
  4. Drop your files and click “Send as work samples” if it’s part of the work or “Send as completed work” if that’s all you have to deliver.

Your client has 7 days to review the files. Once they approve them, we’ll send you the payment.

If the client rejects the files, they probably want you to correct something. We’ll email you about that so you can contact your client and discuss corrections.

Always send files to the client through Useme! Stick to the platform to keep your work files secure – the client won’t get them unless they pay. If you send the files outside Useme, e.g., by email, and the client doesn’t pay, we won’t be able to do anything.

Why we ask for your work files

You need to upload work files to settle the deal through Useme for two reasons:

  • To protect yourself – the client can’t see the files unless they pay for them.
  • To send you the payment – when you upload work you confirm that the job is complete. This allows us to send you the payment lawfully.
